Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. Appoints Frank V. Balon as President and Chief Legal Officer
BUFFALO, N.Y. – June 10, 2026 – The Board of Directors of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. confirmed the appointment of Frank V. Balon as President and Chief Legal Officer on June 2, 2026. The company has been actively conducting a rigorous search for a new executive leader as Founder and outgoing President Sumit Majumdar transitions into his new role as a Limited Partner and Lead Director of Energy and Agriculture at Verite Capital Partners.
Mr. Balon most recently served as the Co-President, Chief Legal Officer, and Board Director of Steuben Foods Inc. in Elma, NY. Over his 15 years of service and dedication to the company, he was an instrumental force in scaling operations from 400 to nearly 800 employees, fostering a thriving workplace and driving sustainable growth. Earning his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2002, he built a robust career practicing business and commercial litigation in New York City and locally in Buffalo at Hiscock & Barclay.

In 2025 alone, we successfully offset 685,850 tons of CO2e. As Frank takes the helm, I firmly believe his leadership will drive us to break the one-million-ton annual offset mark and set new industry benchmarks for sustainability within a year.”
Having founded the company organically over two decades ago, Majumdar built Buffalo Biodiesel into one of the largest waste cooking oil recycling operations in the nation. Under his leadership, the company expanded its services to over 30,000 restaurants across 17 states, establishing new industry standards for ethics and operations while introducing cutting-edge technology to the sector.
Internationally recognized as a foremost industry expert on waste oil collection, contracting, and processing, Majumdar has been a weekly contributor to Bloomberg Green Markets for years. He has also been a fiercely outspoken advocate for fairness within the industry. Never backing down from a challenge, he has consistently utilized the legal system to create accountability and root out corruption. In recent years, Majumdar has spearheaded the fight against organized crime in the waste oil sector, building specialized teams to counteract crime syndicates, resulting in successful prosecutions at the local, state, and federal levels.
Following the executive transition, Majumdar will maintain a long-term position on the Board of Directors for Buffalo Biodiesel Inc., while dedicating his focus to his venture capital duties in green energy and agriculture.
