Ikeuchi Europe Introduces Proven Japanese Livestock Cooling Technology to European Farmers

Drawing on decades of experience in Japan’s hot and humid climate, Ikeuchi Europe is introducing its Semi-dry Fog livestock cooling technology to the European market. Developed by H. IKEUCHI & CO., LTD., the system produces ultra-fine water droplets of approximately 35 μm, creating a cooling effect without noticeably wetting the animals. This also prevents any surrounding hay or feed from getting wet or floors from getting slippery. In addition, the water amount used will be very low, which can allow the cooling system to be on for several hours at a time.
For more than 10 years, H. IKEUCHI & CO., LTD. has supported livestock farmers in Japan with the implementation of Semi-dry Fog cooling systems. Farmers have reported a range of benefits associated with reducing heat stress, including improved animal comfort, increased feed intake, and higher milk production. One dairy farm reported an increase of approximately 500 litres of milk per cow annually after implementing the cooling system. Farmers have also observed a reduced incidence of mastitis and postpartum complications, as well as fewer flies and other insects in cooled barns. A Semi-dry fog® system is also an advantages for dust suppression, which can help to prevent fire outbreaks in stables and barns.
