Embark Behavioral Health Expands Partial Hospitalization Program for Young Adults in Walnut Creek
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – July 28, 2026 – Embark Behavioral Health in Walnut Creek has expanded its Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) to serve young adults ages 18 to 28, broadening access to intensive outpatient mental health care in the East Bay.
Previously, Embark’s Walnut Creek clinic offered PHP for teens and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services for teens and young adults. The expansion, which officially started last week, extends PHP services to young adults as well, providing an additional treatment option for those who need higher levels of support and more individualized treatment plans.
The young adult PHP offers mental health treatment for those experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, and other behavioral health concerns, at a higher level of support than with just weekly therapy or intensive outpatient programs. The program combines individual therapy, group therapy, and family involvement with skills development and experiential activities in a structured daytime treatment setting. By offering daily clinical support while allowing participants to live at home, the program helps young adults receive intensive care without stepping away from school, work or other responsibilities.
Young adulthood is marked by individuals navigating many new obstacles and life transitions, including entering college, beginning careers, navigating independent living and building relationships. These changes can intensify existing mental health challenges and create unique treatment needs that differ from those of both teens and older adults.
“Recognizing a critical gap in mental health services for young adults in the Bay Area, we are excited to offer a Young Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP),” said Walnut Creek Clinical Director, Robin Weber. “Our program provides a higher level of care tailored to the unique needs of young adults, helping to bridge that service gap and ensure access to the support they need to thrive and build the skills necessary for long-term mental wellness.”
The expansion strengthens the continuum of care available through Embark’s Walnut Creek clinic, creating an additional treatment pathway for young adults whose needs may exceed outpatient services but do not require residential or inpatient treatment. As young adults often come in at very different stages of life, access to care that is individualized and adjusted as needed becomes especially important.
With the addition of young adult PHP services, Embark aims to help more individuals access age-appropriate care earlier, supporting recovery and reducing barriers to treatment within the East Bay community. Walnut Creek started accepting young adult clients to the partial hospitalization program as of last Monday, and the entire team is excited and ready to support this age group along with their families.
