Physics and Real-Time Video: DisplayRide Introduces Features in Support of New York's Fault-First Standard

Milpitas, CA – August 28th, 2026 – New York’s 2026 reforms changed what decides a motor vehicle claim. Fault is determined first, and a claimant more at fault than the defendant recovers nothing. The 90/180-day route to serious injury is gone. Both changes reward carriers who can establish the facts early — and penalize those who cannot.

DisplayRide, a risk management platform focused on safety for gig mobility and ranked the #1 dashcam for rideshare drivers in 2023, 2024 and 2026, today introduced two capabilities for that environment.

WAF — the Who’s-At-Fault Record

One packaged file, produced automatically at every incident and delivered within minutes.

Unified multi-view video — road, cabin and rear feeds synchronized on a single timestamped clock.

Pre-impact telemetry — speed, braking, heading and GPS trajectory across the period leading into the collision.

Chain of custody — tamper-evident from capture, uploaded off the vehicle, ready for the file.

HoSI — the How-Severe-Is-the-Impact Record

Measured crash physics on the same timeline, in place of competing accounts.

Objective crash physics — force magnitude and direction, and a bounded velocity change, at first notice of loss.

Occupant record — occupant count and post-impact movement, captured at the event. Claims that don’t match the vehicle are visible before defense spend accumulates.

Minute-one statement — a timestamped driver account taken while the facts are fresh.

What it changes for carriers

Speed is the mechanism. Loss adjustment expense accrues for every day a file stays open and every hour spent reconstructing what happened — statements, scene visits, records requests, independent examinations. When the evidence is complete on day one, most of that work disappears. Reserves are calibrated to crash force rather than narratives, weak claims surface before defense spend accumulates, and strong ones close faster.

DisplayRide supplies evidence. Determinations of fault, injury and coverage remain with the carrier and, where applicable, the trier of fact. Neither capability makes or replaces those determinations.

Built for problems the industry lives with

DisplayRide was the first — and remains the only — platform to offer rideshare drivers deactivation support. It also provides in-trip driver guidance, expedites claims end to end, and identifies undisclosed driver use. Each answers something the FHV industry had learned to absorb rather than solve: a driver deactivated over an accusation with no way to answer it, a claim that drags for months because nobody can establish what happened, a vehicle driven by someone the policy never covered. WAF and HoSI apply the same approach to a law that just changed.

Both records reflect where DisplayRide expects the market to move: carriers underwriting and adjudicating on measured evidence rather than narrative, in an environment where the law increasingly rewards it.
