• Leached (water immersion) – submerged in water to simulate rain exposure

• Accelerated weathering – weathered to simulate long-term UV and outdoor aging

2. Vertical Flame Test Procedure

A controlled 38mm gas flame is applied directly to the bottom edge of a vertically mounted fabric sample for 12 seconds, then removed.

3. Pass / Fail Criteria

To pass CPAI-84 certification, the fabric must meet three strict conditions:

Afterflame Time – must self-extinguish within 2.0 seconds for any individual specimen after the flame source is removed

Char Length – the average destroyed area (char length) must not exceed specified maximum thresholds based on fabric weight

No Flaming Drips – melted portions or drips must not continue to burn after falling to the test cabinet floor

Formal laboratory test reports are required for official procurement files, venue permit approvals, and fire marshal inspections. On-site screening checks serve only as preliminary indicators during sample evaluations.
