Three Brazilian Sisters Recognized as World’s Oldest Living Sibling Trio, With Combined Age of 316 Years
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – June 16, 2026 – The three sisters: Levita, 109; Zoraide, 104; and Zulina, 103 — were recently visited in Rio de Janeiro by LongeviQuest researcher Iara Souza. Their story is an extraordinary case of verified human longevity, but also a deeply human story of family devotion, resilience, and sisterhood spanning more than a century.
Levita de Deus Nunes, born in 1917, dedicated much of her life to caring for family and supporting her siblings. Known for her skill in embroidery, crochet, knitting, and sewing, she carried forward handmade traditions learned in childhood and later worked for 12 years at Rede Globo Television.
Zoraide de Deus Mota, born in 1921, pursued education and nursing after moving to Rio de Janeiro. A graduate of the Anna Nery School of Nursing, she built a respected career in hospitals and raised five children.
Zulina de Deus Nunes, born in 1923, raised six children and relied on sewing, embroidery, and handmade crafts to help support her family. After migrating to Rio de Janeiro during a difficult chapter in her life, she found support from her sisters as she worked to build a new future for herself and her children.
Together, the sisters’ story illustrates the enduring power of family bonds and the remarkable lives behind the world’s oldest people.
“Cases like this remind us that longevity is not only about years lived, but about the relationships, sacrifices, and shared histories that give those years meaning,” said Ben Meyers, CEO of LongeviQuest. “These three sisters represent one of the most remarkable living family longevity stories in the world.”
