From Raw Material to Finished Product: How Many Quality Checks Does a Wet Wipe Go Through?

Many buyers think Wet Wipes are just “nonwoven fabric with water” and assume quality control is simple. In fact, a qualifiedwet wipe goes through at least three key quality checks from raw material entry to finished product dispatch.

Check 1: Incoming Raw Material Inspection (Receiving Stage)

Nonwoven fabric is tested for basis weight and thickness. Weight tolerance must be within ±5% (for example, a 50gsm fabric must be between 47.5 and 52.5gsm). If thickness deviation exceeds 0.2mm, liquid absorption is affected. Liquid ingredients are tested for pH – must be between 4.5 and 6.5. Preservative components are sampled to ensure no banned preservatives are present. Packaging film is tested for heat‑seal strength – if below standard, it will cause leakage and the wipes will dry out within months. Our procedure is to sample and test every incoming batch before it is accepted into the warehouse.

⭐Check 2: In‑Process Inspection (Production Stage)

While the production line is running, quality inspectors take samples every 30 minutes. Liquid application volume must be within ±3% tolerance – too little and the wipes won’t clean properly, too much and they drip. Individual wipe weight and moisture content are also sampled. Nonwoven splices must be smooth, with no wrinkles or tears. After heat‑sealing, individual packs undergo a seal integrity test: the finished pack is submerged in water and observed for bubbles – no continuous bubbles within 1 minute passes. If heat‑seal temperature deviates by more than ±5°C, the pack will leak. Our in‑process inspection records are kept for more than 2 years.

Check 3: Finished Product Outbound Inspection (Release Stage)

Finished products are left in the warehouse for 24 hours, then sampled by batch for final testing. Microbiological tests include total bacterial count, fungi, E. coli, and pathogens – the test cycle takes 48 to 72 hours. A simulated transport test is also performed: dropping from 1.5 metres three times without packaging damage. Opened wipes are placed in a constant‑temperature chamber to test moisture retention, simulating moisture loss under different climate conditions. Only when all data passes is the batch released. Any batch that fails is reworked or scrapped.

From raw material to finished product, besides these three main checkpoints, there are countless random spot checks. Every test record from each checkpoint is documented and available for client review at any time. That’s the standard we follow.
