What is Dragon Boat Festival?

The Dragon Boat Festival, also named Duanwu Festival / Double Fifth Festival, is one of China’s three major traditional festivals (along with Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival) and was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2009..

Our company held an activity on the Special day of Dragon Boat Festival

To celebrate the traditional Dragon Boat Festival, our company held a warm team-building activity filled with traditional culture and fun teamwork.

All colleagues gathered to experience classic Duanwu customs hand in hand. We wrapped zongzi (sticky rice dUMPlings) from scratch—sharing tips on folding bamboo leaves and filling rice, with lots of laughter over our uneven, one-of-a-kind rice parcels.

We also enjoyed creative handcraft sessions: painting decorative hand fans with our favorite patterns, and sewing fragrant herbal sachets (Xiangbao) stuffed with aromatic herbs, a traditional ornament believed to bring wellness and ward off summer bugs.

Every handmade fan and scented pouch carries our unique creativity, while every zongzi wrapped together represents our teamwork and connection. Beyond delicious food and delicate crafts, this activity brought us closer, letting us slow down, appreciate Chinese traditional culture, and build stronger camaraderie outside daily work.

This Dragon Boat Festival-themed team building activity turned out to be a great success. Every staff member got hands-on experience of traditional Duanwu customs by wrapping zongzi, painting handmade fans and crafting herbal sachets. Through these immersive activities, everyone gained a deeper understanding of profound traditional Chinese culture. The event not only helped us unwind from heavy work, but also strengthened communication and camaraderie among the whole team.
