SAINT LUCIA – In a bold and deeply original artistic breakthrough, award-winning Caribbean singer-songwriter and author Emmanuel Carlos St. Omer introduces Radical Son Back to Roots, a first of its kind Cinematic Reggae Novel Experience, a seamless fusion of a full-length Caribbean novel and an original ten-track reggae soundtrack (Radical Son Back to Roots, Vol.2) designed to be experienced together.
At the heart of this innovative project lies a simple but powerful idea: storytelling should not be confined to a single medium. Each chapter of the novel is paired with its own original song, accessible through embedded QR codes, allowing readers to hear the story as they read it. For St. Omer, this project is also profoundly personal. Following the tragic loss of his eighteen-year-old son, Brandon, in 2018, his creative path took on new meaning. What emerged from that period of grief is not only a body of music, but a deeply intentional artistic statement, one that transforms pain into purpose and storytelling into healing.
With a career spanning over three decades, Emmanuel Carlos St. Omer has earned international recognition for his songwriting excellence. He is a Songwriter of the Year recipient at the Orpheus Global Independent Music Awards (London) and a First-Place winner in the Great American Song Contest for his composition Covered. His work has also been recognized as a finalist in the Commonwealth Song Contest, affirming his global impact as both a musician and storyteller.
Yet, beyond awards and accolades, it is his philosophy that defines his work: that songs should preserve memory, that stories should carry truth and that culture must be actively protected through creative expression.
