Leigh Tesar Highlights the Details Behind Successful Event Planning
Miami, FL – September 16, 2026 – Senior Event Coordinator Leigh Tesar is highlighting the often-overlooked planning and coordination that goes into creating successful corporate, private, and community events.
Tesar has worked in event planning since 2019, progressing from Event Assistant to Event Coordinator and, in 2024, to Senior Event Coordinator. Her experience includes corporate conferences, networking events, private celebrations, fundraisers, community events, brand activations, award ceremonies, and company gatherings.
Throughout that progression, Tesar says one lesson has remained consistent: the success of an event often depends more on preparation than what guests ultimately see.
“People experience the finished event, but there are usually dozens of small decisions behind every part of it,” Tesar said. “The goal is to make those details work together so the guest never has to think about them.”
Preparation Creates Room for Creativity
Tesar grew up in Miami and developed an early interest in organizing activities and bringing people together. After graduating from high school in 2016, she studied Business Administration at Miami Dade College.
Her studies covered areas including business communication, marketing, hospitality management, project coordination, customer relations, and organizational leadership. She graduated in 2019 and entered the event industry that same year as an Event Assistant.
That first role exposed her to the operational side of events, including registration, vendor communication, event materials, timelines, and on-site coordination.
“You learn very quickly that an event is more than the idea,” Tesar said. “You need to know when vendors are arriving, where guests are going, what happens if something changes, and who is responsible for each part.”
As her responsibilities grew, Tesar began managing projects from initial client conversations through final execution. She worked with venues, caterers, entertainment providers, decorators, and production teams while also tracking budgets and schedules.
Communication Matters When Plans Change
Tesar says flexibility is one of the most important skills she has developed during her career.
Events can involve multiple vendors, strict timelines, changing guest counts, venue requirements, and unexpected problems. Rather than expecting every plan to unfold perfectly, Tesar believes preparation should include a clear process for responding when it does not.
“Being organized doesn’t mean nothing will go wrong,” she said. “It means you know enough about the plan to make a good decision when something changes.”
She also emphasizes written communication and detailed documentation. Confirming vendor information, recording changes, and maintaining clear timelines can prevent small misunderstandings from becoming larger problems.
Another practice Tesar recommends is reviewing an event from a guest’s point of view before it begins.
Questions such as where attendees enter, how they know where to go, whether signs are clear, and whether the schedule feels rushed can reveal issues that are easy to overlook during the planning process.
Event Planning Continues to Evolve
As a Senior Event Coordinator, Tesar has also taken an interest in helping newer event professionals understand the practical side of the industry.
She believes strong event professionals need both creative thinking and operational knowledge. She continues to build her own skills through industry training related to event operations, vendor coordination, budgets, client management, technology, and guest experience.
Tesar also looks beyond the event industry for creative inspiration. She enjoys photography, travel, live music, restaurants, Miami cultural events, interior design, cooking, and hosting gatherings with friends and family.
“Creativity gives you ideas, but organization gives those ideas somewhere to go,” Tesar said. “When the two work together, you can create an experience that feels natural even though a lot of planning happened behind the scenes.”
