MoneyBuddy’s Free Hong Kong SME Loan Matching Platform Reaches 25 Successful Cases in 2 Months With APR As Low As 2.5% Among Matched Borrowers
HONG KONG, Hong Kong – Sept. 17, 2026 – MoneyBuddy, an independent loan matching platform that compares offers from more than 30 banks and licensed finance companies across Hong Kong without ever acting as a lender itself, today reported 25 successful SME loan cases completed through its platform, with borrowers in this group receiving APR offers as low as 2.5% from participating lenders. Other types of loans are reported to be as low as 1.6%. The company, which operates under Thunder Financial Holding Limited and has matched more than 2,500 borrowers across personal, SME, mortgage, renovation, tax and medical loans over more than a decade in business, attributes the results to a recent upgrade to its loan-matching systems. MoneyBuddy charges SME borrowers no processing fees, application charges or brokerage at any point, including enquiries that do not result in an offer.
The platform serves business owners who have operated for at least a year and need working capital, equipment financing or expansion funding, with loan terms available from 6 to 96 months and amounts reaching HK$2,000,000 or more through the network. SME applicants submit a single enquiry through the SME loan matching service, which MoneyBuddy’s systems then compare against eligible lenders spanning tier-1 banks, virtual banks, licensed money lenders and specialty SME lenders, rather than requiring the borrower to approach each institution separately. Matching uses a soft credit check only, so comparing offers does not affect the borrower’s credit score, and a hard check only occurs once the borrower chooses to proceed with a specific lender. MoneyBuddy’s consultants work on fixed salaries rather than commission, and every APR shown to a borrower is passed through from the lender with no markup added.
“The 2.5% figure reflects what our upgraded matching systems found for specific SME borrowers within their eligible lender pool, as low as this rate was among lenders in the network, not a rate every applicant will receive,” said Jacky Tong, Managing Director of MoneyBuddy of MoneyBuddy. “What changed with this upgrade is how precisely we can match an SME’s profile, operating history and financing need to the lenders in our network with the strongest fit for that borrower’s circumstances, and that precision is what produced 25 successful cases in this cohort.”
Hong Kong SME owners have historically faced a fragmented financing market, where comparing terms across more than 30 lenders individually can take weeks and often ends in rejection for businesses without conventional income documentation or a strong TransUnion file. MoneyBuddy operates as an independent matching platform that compares offers from tier-1 banks, virtual banks, licensed finance companies and specialty lenders simultaneously, allowing it to route SME applicants across multiple lenders through one enquiry. This matters for non-prime business borrowers and self-employed applicants who have been declined by a bank previously, since a decline from one lender does not close off the remaining network.
“Every one of these 25 cases still went through a lender’s own underwriting, and approval was always the lender’s decision, not ours,” said Jacky Tong, Managing Director of MoneyBuddy of MoneyBuddy. “Our part is narrowing 30-plus lenders down to the ones actually likely to say yes to a given business, and then negotiating the terms on the borrower’s behalf once a match is found.”
SME owners can submit an enquiry through MoneyBuddy’s online repayment calculator and application form, which remains open 24 hours a day, while WhatsApp-based advisor support is available during business hours with an average reply time of two minutes. The service remains free to the borrower regardless of outcome, and the APR a business ultimately receives depends on its individual profile and the participating lender’s own assessment, varying across the network rather than being fixed by MoneyBuddy.
