BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – October 14, 2026 – Cory Watson Attorneys have announced that Emma Loftin has joined the firm as an associate attorney, following nearly a year of service as a law clerk.

Loftin, a graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, will focus her practice on personal injury law. She is licensed to practice with the Alabama State Bar.

“In personal injury law, we have the unique opportunity to acknowledge that, though no amount of money can ever undo what happened to someone, we can help make sure they are not left to bear the consequences alone,” Loftin said. “I love being able to walk alongside people during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, listen to their stories, advocate for them, and help them pursue justice.”

A Path Shaped by Service

Loftin grew up in Marietta, Georgia, before relocating to Birmingham in 2019 to attend Samford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. She went on to complete her Juris Doctor at the university’s Cumberland School of Law.

Her interest in the law took root during a college summer spent working as a camp counselor in North Georgia, where she mentored young girls in the foster care system. Their stories, she said, sparked a passion for justice that shaped her career direction. A conversation with her older brother, who was applying to law school at the time, helped her see how a legal career could provide people with the tools to reclaim what had been taken from them.

Loftin said she views the role of a personal injury attorney as one of advocacy and honor — someone who listens closely to clients’ circumstances, takes them seriously, and fights to ensure they are treated fairly.

Recognition and Leadership

During law school, Loftin received the Cumberland Spirit of Service Award for the 2024–2025 academic year, recognizing more than 135 hours of community service. She also held leadership positions within the Cumberland School of Law community, serving as secretary of the Christian Legal Society and vice president of Women in Law.

Community Involvement

Beyond her legal work, Loftin is an active member of her church community at All Christ Church – Birmingham. She has served as a YoungLife leader at Hoover High School since 2022, mentoring students through weekly large- and small-group meetings as part of Birmingham South YoungLife.

A self-described Georgia Bulldawg through and through, Loftin has also taken up tennis as a new hobby and is an avid audiobook listener. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Birmingham’s food scene and spending time with friends and family.
