SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. –<\/strong> Assata Michelle today announces the beginning of the release campaign for her debut album, All Roads Lead to Gold<\/strong>, opening with “Tokyo,” the first chapter of a larger body of work that will unfold throughout 2026 before culminating in the complete album later this year.<\/p>\n

Conceived over nearly a decade of living and working between New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Shanghai, All Roads Lead to Gold<\/strong> brings together contemporary songwriting, orchestral performance, visual storytelling, fashion, and design. Rather than existing as separate disciplines, music, imagery, and objects are conceived together as parts of a single artistic language.<\/p>\n

Raised in Spanish Harlem, New York, Michelle’s earliest musical influences were shaped by her Puerto Rican crianza, where music, poetry, and storytelling were inseparable from daily life. In a neighborhood where the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance existed alongside murals celebrating Héctor Lavoe and Celia Cruz, artistic expression felt less like performance than a shared language. The writings of Langston Hughes, the enduring spirit of Duke Ellington’s Harlem, and the rhythms of her own community helped cultivate an artistic voice that moves fluidly between intimacy and scale, tradition and reinvention.<\/p>\n

The campaign begins with “Tokyo,” the audience’s first introduction to the world of All Roads Lead to Gold<\/strong>. Rather than unveiling the project all at once, Michelle has chosen to release it as a sequence of interconnected chapters, each expanding the narrative through music, film, photography, styling, and collectible merchandise before culminating in the complete record.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the album is a dialogue between contemporary songwriting and orchestral performance. During its development, Michelle collaborated with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Paul Phillips, recording orchestral performances that became integral to the project’s sonic identity.<\/p>\n

Conceived and creatively directed by Michelle, All Roads Lead to Gold<\/strong> was developed through collaborations with a broad network of musicians, arrangers, producers, and visual artists. Principally produced by Malcolm Charles, the project also features additional production contributions from Alvin Wee, Amy Aizhou, Robyn Bryant, and Peter McConnell. Orchestral and chamber arrangements were contributed by Nathaniel Heyder, Madeline Barrett, Anish Halloway, Charlie Penn, and Tobi Weiss. Mastering was completed by Brian Lee, whose career includes years working alongside the legendary Bob Ludwig.<\/p>\n

Beyond the music itself, All Roads Lead to Gold<\/strong> extends into a broader creative world. Original photography, styling, apparel, and limited-edition merchandise have been developed alongside the recordings, allowing each chapter of the campaign to exist as both a musical release and a physical expression of the world it inhabits.<\/p>\n

Beginning with “Tokyo,” the campaign will continue throughout late 2026 with additional chapters leading to the release of All Roads Lead to Gold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
