Kharis Publishing today released The Shepherdess and the Lost Lamb<\/em> by Noël Justine, the first book in a new series that teaches character through the everyday life of a farmgirl in early 1900s England.<\/p>\n

Josephine wants one thing: to prove to her father that she can be trusted with real responsibility. What follows on her parents’ farm is a mix of determination, mishap, and lighthearted childish antics, building to an ending that lands with genuine warmth rather than a moral tacked on at the end.<\/p>\n

The book is built to be looked at as much as read. The illustration direction draws on the tradition of Beatrix Potter and Charles Santore’s Aesop’s Fables — the kind of artwork a child will sit and study long after the story is finished, pulling them deeper into Josephine’s world.<\/p>\n

“I wrote this for the whole room,” said Justine. “The parent reading it, the grandparent listening in, the child asking to see the page again. Character isn’t taught in a lecture. It’s caught in a story.”<\/p>\n

Justine writes from experience. A Christian wife, farmer, and mother of eight, her work draws on her own life of stewarding land, home, and family — and on her desire to encourage the next generation of women toward the high calling of marriage and motherhood.<\/p>\n
