After Rishi’s family helps the King recover, an extraordinary friendship develops and leads Rishi on an unforgettable safari adventure in Gorillia. Before they part, the King gives Rishi a mysterious staff with remarkable abilities and one essential instruction: “Use it wisely.”

That simple lesson becomes the foundation for the adventures that follow. Alongside his friend Kiri, Rishi experiments with the staff, discovers its surprising possibilities, and gradually learns that courage, patience, responsibility, and good judgment matter more than power itself. Their journeys eventually take them beyond Gorillia to Canada and Paris, where new discoveries await while family remains at the heart of the story.

Literary Titan praised the trilogy as an illustrated children’s fantasy adventure combining magical travel, family relationships, humor, and gentle lessons about responsibility. The review highlights the way Rishi and Kiri grow through their experiences, ultimately discovering that wisdom is not something the magical staff simply gives them. It is something they develop together through the choices they make.

For Miller, the origins of the series are deeply personal. King Montamahilla first appeared decades ago in bedtime stories Miller invented for his own children. Rather than reading from books, his children asked him to create a new story each night. Montamahilla became a recurring figure, a thoughtful and compassionate gorilla king who helped animals, solved problems, and quietly did what was right.

Years later, the birth of Miller’s grandson Rishi inspired him to bring that beloved character back. Members of Miller’s own family inspired characters throughout the trilogy, transforming memories of family storytelling into a new series that could be shared with children and parents around the world.

“I hope children discover that curiosity is something to celebrate,” Miller says. “Rishi and Kiri ask questions. They experiment. They make mistakes. They learn from those mistakes and keep going.”

The trilogy also explores emotional challenges alongside its magical adventures. Through themes involving family separation, hope, friendship, and difficult choices, Miller encourages young readers to recognize that not every problem can be solved by magic. Sometimes kindness, patience, love, and wise decisions are the most powerful tools available.

Fully illustrated and presented in an easy-to-read 16-point font, The Rishi Trilogy offers young readers a colorful journey from New Zealand to Gorillia, from African wildlife encounters to Canada and the streets of Paris. Its combination of imaginative adventure and family warmth makes it especially suited for independent reading and family read-alouds.

Celebrate the Literary Titan Book Award by joining Rishi, Kiri, and King Montamahilla on their adventures. The Rishi Trilogy is available for readers and families to purchase through Amazon. Discover a world where imagination opens doors, friendship crosses borders, and every adventure offers a chance to learn what it truly means to “use it wisely.”

About the Author

Mark Miller is a Canadian author, retired educator, cartoonist, and photographer living in Montreal, Quebec.
