WAUKESHA, Wis. – September 2, 2026 – <\/strong>Simple Leaf Wellness Brands today welcomed congressional passage of a continuing resolution that provides additional time for lawmakers to address the federal regulatory framework governing naturally derived hemp products.<\/p>\n

The U.S. House of Representatives approved the continuing resolution on September 1 by a vote of 370-48, following earlier passage by the U.S. Senate. The measure, which now goes to the President for signature, funds the federal government through December 11, 2026, and delays implementation of most changes to the federal definition of hemp from November 12 until December 11, 2026.<\/p>\n

The additional time provides an opportunity for continued consideration of a longer-term federal framework addressing hemp-derived consumer products. Restrictions affecting certain cannabinoids that cannot be naturally produced by the cannabis plant remain scheduled to take effect November 12.<\/p>\n

The regulatory discussions have implications across the broader hemp marketplace, including naturally derived cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG and Delta 9, as well as consumer product formats including gummies, oils and capsules. How cannabinoids and finished hemp products are defined under federal law will play an important role in determining the regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturers, retailers and consumers.<\/p>\n
