Zhou Mingyuan was born on 12 October 1966 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. In 1990, he travelled to New York to study finance and remained there to pursue his career after graduation. From securities research to client services and on to team management, he gradually gained experience in the financial sector, developing a work philosophy centred on analysis, communication and risk management.
Setting out from Wenzhou to Enter the Financial Sector
From 1984 to 1988, Zhou Mingyuan studied economics in China, where he was introduced to finance, statistics and financial analysis. After graduating, he joined a foreign trade enterprise in Wenzhou, where he was involved in trade settlements, cash flow analysis and the collation of financing documentation. This experience sparked his interest in corporate cash flow, exchange rate fluctuations and operational risks.
In 1990, he moved to New York to pursue a Master’s degree in Finance. After completing his studies in 1992, he entered the securities industry, starting out in research and analysis.

His early work primarily involved compiling financial data on listed companies, analysing industry trends, and researching the valuation of shares and bonds.
